“Violet Moon Landscape” explores the emotional and atmospheric dimension of landscape through layered colour, softened forms, and luminous contrasts. Executed in oil pastels on paper, the work presents an imagined nocturnal environment suspended between memory, silence, and transformation.

The composition draws the viewer inward through dark, flowing terrain toward a pale, moon-like form emerging at the centre of the horizon. Deep violet skies and muted blue-green earth tones create a dreamlike atmosphere where natural elements dissolve into gesture and light. Small luminous marks scattered across the surface evoke stars, distant lights, or fleeting traces moving through the landscape.

Vertical forms along the horizon suggest forests, shadows, or silent architectural presences, while the foreground remains fluid and unstable, balancing between earth, water, and reflection. Rather than depicting a specific location, the work reflects an internal landscape shaped by intuition, emotional memory, and shifting perception.

The oil pastel medium allows for rich layering and visible gesture, preserving both texture and movement throughout the surface. Contrasts between darkness and light play a central role in the composition, creating a suspended atmosphere that feels contemplative, intimate, and slightly otherworldly.

“Violet Moon Landscape” continues my interest in psychological and symbolic landscapes where nature becomes a space of transition, uncertainty, and quiet illumination.

The work is framed, varnished, and signed on both front and back.

Thanks for reading.
