Chapter Four: Sun-Kissed Days and Sweet Goodbyes

As always happens on the most beautiful holidays, the days seemed to fly by. One moment we were arriving in Kefalonia with wide eyes and sunscreen in hand, and the next we were counting down our last sunsets.
Each day had its own rhythm—slow and full of joy. Mornings spent under the sun, afternoons floating in the sea or pool, long lunches with delicious Greek food, and evenings with a book in hand or a piny of beer nearby. I lost myself in stories, in silence, in salty breezes. Around every corner, we were greeted by sweet local cats, always ready for a cuddle or a curious glance. They seemed to mirror the spirit of the island—gentle, laid-back, full of charm.

We had what we came for: rest, sun, nature, love, and peace. A perfect escape from the often grey and rainy skies of Newcastle upon Tyne. Life in Kefalonia felt softer, slower, and somehow more vivid—like everything was painted in warmer colors.
But eventually, our 11 days came to an end. The return flight was waiting for us, and it was time to pack up our swimsuits, souvenirs, and memories. The Viking and I were ready to go back to our home—a cozy place with a beautiful garden, our beloved pussicat, and our everyday lives that we now viewed with refreshed eyes.
Greece, and Kefalonia in particular, left us with that special kind of sweet nostalgia—the kind that stays with you like the scent of sun cream on your skin or the taste of feta on warm bread. We know this is not a goodbye, but a see you soon. There’s still so much to explore, so many islands and stories waiting.

Thank you for reading and sharing this journey with us.
Until the next adventure…
