Exploring A Shore Dreaming: A Contemporary Dreamscape

A Shore Dreaming

£690

Artwork Description

A Shore Dreaming is an oil pastel dreamscape by Laura Bernardeschi Nelson, inspired by a coastal landscape transformed by the magical light of sunrise. In this imagined terrain, cliffs soften and dissolve into cascading waterfalls, and the boundary between sea, sky, and land becomes fluid, shaped as much by memory and emotion as by geography.

Vertical, flowing gestures evoke falling water and the slow passage of time, while a palette of blues, violets, and soft luminous tones captures the quiet moment before the day fully awakens. Birds drift across the upper reaches of the composition, reinforcing a sense of scale, freedom, and solitude.

Rather than depicting a specific place, the work inhabits an inner landscape—a contemplative vision of the coast as a space of reverie, transformation, and stillness. It invites the viewer to pause and enter a moment where nature feels suspended between reality and dream.
