Description
Hands Over a Warming Sea brings together the scale of the ocean and the intimacy of human touch. A layered seascape in cold blues and violets carries the grit of time and residue, built with acrylic, gesso, spray paint, and coffee grounds mixed with glue. Along the horizon, wind turbines emerge—part drawing, part structure—while painted bamboo sticks extend the blades into real space, creating a striking 3D presence that suggests both possibility and fragility.
In the foreground, two hands—echoing the iconic “almost-touch” gesture associated with Michelangelo—reach toward one another across a charged gap. The hands hover over the water like a question: how close are we to care, to action, to repair? The work speaks to climate change and aging as parallel forces—both shaped by time, consequence, and the urgency of what we choose to hold onto before it slips away.
