There’s a certain kind of peace that only the sea can offer — the rhythm of the waves, the soft pull of the tide, and the quiet hush that settles in hidden places along the coast. Echoes of the Tide was born from that feeling.
This piece is an invitation to pause — to step into the cool shade of a rocky sea cave and gaze out at the endless blue. Layers of soft oil pastels create the movement of waves as they roll toward the shore, illuminated by the glow of a golden sky. The earthy reds and burnt siennas of the cave frame the view like an open secret, hinting at the wild, ancient strength of the coastline.
I wanted to capture that contrast — the stillness within the cave, and the vibrant energy just beyond it. That tension between shelter and openness, solitude and connection, is something I find again and again in nature… and in art.
