I’ve been dreaming of the sea for years.
But not the tranquil kind.
In my dreams, the ocean is enormous, wild—sometimes rising in slow, terrifying silence, sometimes rushing in a roar I can feel in my bones. These are not nightmares, exactly. But they carry a weight. They repeat. They demand something.
I finally decided to paint one.
Where the Tsunami Dreams Begin is made with acrylics and oil pastels on paper. I let the water lead me—layering colour over colour, tracing the movement, and allowing the wave to emerge almost on its own. There’s no clear horizon here. No sky you can count on. Just energy, pressure, memory.
Like the dream itself, the painting holds something unfinished. It’s the moment just before everything changes.
And maybe, the moment that repeats—until you face it with open eyes.
